New from Daniele Portinari

March 2025

A few exciting new releases from Daniele and Giovanni Portinari have recently hit our list.

Located in the sleepy town of Alonte, father and son organically farm five hectares on the southern hills of the Colli Berici in Veneto. A place that feels far removed from the industrialized region, where the vines, surrounded by forest overlooking the Alps, sit on clacareous rocks and clayey soils rich in iron.

From a throwback year, the Tai Rosso 2021 shows all the power and complexity this variety can reach in this part of the world. The local Grenache clone grows with an extremely low yield and ferments with the skins for a couple of weeks before a long rest in stainless steel and oak. The resulting wine offers an intriguing depth and elegance we have only found in rare vintage.

We also received a handful of magnums of Merlot from the same fortunate vintage. A dynamic red wine born from a selection of bunches harvested at the end of September, aged for one year in oak barrels without any additions.
