We are happy to introduce this year's third release from the Colli Berici, the new Pietrobianco 2021 from Daniele and Giovanni Portinari.
Located in the sleepy town of Alonte on the southern side of the hills, Daniele has been farming five hectares of his family's vineyards for the last sixteen years. Here, the white sedimentary rocks of calcareous nature that evolved into soils with red clays rich in iron, alongside the influence of the Mediterranean climate, give life to grapes filled with aromatics and mineral compounds.
Recently joined by his son Giovanni, Daniele works organically in the vineyard with low yields and fully ripe fruits, native yeasts and little or no additions in the cellar, crafting approachable yet intricated wines that reflect their land.
Sourced from old vines and kissed by a warm summer, their renowned blend of Pinot Bianco and Tai Bianco shows pronounced notes of fresh herbs, pineapple and citrus alongside a smooth texture poised by chalky tannins and a distinctive salinity.
