After an inspiring week spent at Colle Florido last September, we are thrilled to share the latest release from Andrea Ugolotti and Daniela Trollio.
Before stepping into the world of winemaking, Andrea adorned the title of a respected sommelier, gracing Michelin-starred restaurants all over the continent. In two thousand sixteen, after a few years spent with legendary winemakers in Montalcino and Isola del Giglio, he and his wife Daniela moved to Abruzzo to start a family and established Colle Florido.
Based on the hills of Pianella, a dramatic landscape encapsulated between sea and mountain, they tend three and a half hectares of vines planted on clay and active limestone rich in magnesium. The wines are made with simple tools and techniques, fermenting outdoors and resting in barrels in the humble home garage.
The experience gained by the couple through years of passion and dedication is impressive. Even in a hot vintage like 2022, they obtain pristine grapes with an excellent balance between sugars and acids, resulting in wines of immense class and purity we are proud to share.
Alongside the wines, we also received a handful of jars of Scrucchijata, the exquisite grape compote produced with Montepulciano d'Abruzzo and nothing else.
