A career as a continental-level sommelier and the approach to winemaking through excellent collaborations - Franco Soldera and Marino Colleoni - lead Andrea Ugolotti and his partner Daniela Trolio to settle in the Abruzzo hinterland to give shape to Colle Florido.
The 3.5 hectares of vineyards they tend are spread around the peaceful village of Pianella; smooth hills where the influence of the Adriatic sea and the Apennine mountains lend freshness to the grapes while the warm sun does the rest. Wild mint, dandelion, barley and wild carrots contribute to the biodiversity and beauty of these vineyards. The soil is a mix of clay and limestone and the vines are between six and forty years old; low yields and minimum use of copper and sulfur contribute to the high quality and healthiness of the wine.
The Cantina is actually the home garage, a narrow space that houses a couple of wooden vats and some old barriques. A proper home made production.
