For the last week, we had the privilege to stay at Colle Florido, on the enchanting hills of Pianella in Central Abruzzo.
An opportunity to experience together with Andrea and Daniela the final stage of the 2023 vintage - no doubt a complicated one. The profuse rains in spring and the sultry summer contributed to the spread of vine diseases such as downy mildew, causing significant crop losses. Despite these conditions, the couple moved with belief in their choices, accepting the course of nature without excessive stress. An exemplary attitude that we find inspiring.
When not in the vineyard for the grapes picking, we spent most of the time helping Andrea with the organisation of the cellar and visiting local friends. These were precious moments to understand how this reality is evolving: learning from the past and putting the connection with the land in the first place.
We also, of course, had time to taste the '22 vintage. It's hard to hide the excitement for these wines, but we will share our notes and thoughts later this year for their launch.
