A blend of Nerello Mascalese and Grenache from a single plot in Contrada Solicchiata, Atrano - eight hundred meters above sea level on the southwest slope of the mountain. The sixty-year-old vines are planted on volcanic sand and some clay. De-stemmed and fermented with the skins for three days in plastic buckets, the wine aged for one year in steel and fibreglass. This a savoury, deep red wine that speaks about the warmest side of the Etna. The concentration and density are beautifully balanced by juicy tannins and smoky minerals.
