We are excited to kick off the new year with the latest release from Alto Piemonte's most sensitive winemakers, Paola Fornara and Ivano Barbaglia of Santuvario.
Based in the sleepy town of Borgomanero, the couple contributed to the rebirth of a historic vineyard in one of the smallest wine regions of Italy, Boca. A site of incomparable beauty and energy, within the Monte Fenera Natural Park and influenced by the massif Monte Rosa, around five hundred meters above sea level. Their centenary vines, planted on igneous porphyry, basalts and sands, are trained with the ancient Maggiorina system and produce wines of unmatched finesse and concentration.
During our visit to Piedmont last May, we were privileged to spend a luminous day with Paola and Ivano, immersed in the history of their vineyard while tasting the new wines and some of their remarkable old vintages.
Alongside Lavigna 2020, pure expressions of Croatina from ungrafted vines, and the sublime Santuvario 2019 in single and magnum, we are thrilled to offer a handful of Lozio 2018 and Gino 2021, a rare dry expression of the less-know Erbaluce variety.
