After a day spent with Luca Bevilacqua on the magnificent Costa dei Trabocchi in the summer, we are thrilled to share the new range of his brilliant wines.
A lovely, humble man driven by immeasurable passion, from 2006 Luca is farming a few hectares of vines between Atessa and Mozzagrogna in Southern Abruzzo. A land encapsulated between the Apennines mountain and the Adriatic Sea, benefiting from both a maritime and continental climate. The vines are growing on a mixture of clay and silt, surrounded by olive and peach trees, tomatoes and wheat fields.
Despite a hot and dry summer in Abruzzo and throughout Italy, the 2022 vintage from Luca shows incredible freshness and the typical fragrance and salinity. Alongside the usuals, we received the vibrant new white Baldoria and the wonderful Super White and Red Lab. The recent addition of new ageing vessels to the cellars - ceramic eggs and an acacia barrel - contributes to the complexity and depth of this range.
We will be showing the full line-up next Monday at Bambi in Hackney. If you are in the trade and would like to join the tasting, please get in touch via email.
