We are delighted to introduce the 2022 vintage from Davide Xodo.
Originally from Vicenza in Veneto, after studying oenological sciences in Toulouse and work experiences in Bierzo and the Chianti Classico area as an agronomist, Davide returned to north Italy to realise the dream of making wine in his homeland in 2018.
Today, Davide tends to around five hectares of vines nestled in the quaint village of Nanto, cradled on the eastern slopes of the fertile Colli Berici. Over the four small plots, mainly enclosed in the small Val di Dio, the composition of the soil is a combination of clay, silt and limestone. The farming is meticulous, done organically, without the use of chemicals or pesticides and limiting copper and sulfur treatments.
In a severely dry year like 2022, Davide managed to tame the consequent grapes' concentration, producing balanced wines with the usual genuine and accessible character. This time, with the well-known Garganegade, Nina and Tai Rosso, we received Campetti, a new blend of young Merlot and Carmenére planted by Davide and some old Syrah from Vigna del Roccolo.
On Monday, 29th of April, Davide will be in London for our trade tasting at Casa Fofò in Hackney - a unique opportunity to explore the full range of his exquisite wines.
