We are pleased to present the latest release from our dear Claudio Plessi.
Based in Castelnuvo Rangone, just a few kilometres south of Modena in Emilia, Claudio is crafting timeless wines from three hectares of vines sited on alluvial soils rich in limestone. We had the pleasure of visiting him and his wife Camilla on a sunny day last April, wandering around the vine garden planted solely of rare local varieties, of which Claudio is the passionate guardian. During the meal prepared by Camilla, which featured pappardelle al ragù di toro and some delectable scarpasot, we tasted an exciting selection of wines from the 2021 vintage, the same we are now happy to share with all of you.
Together with the brightest versions of Tiepido and Lambruscaun, we received a handful of bottles of Tarbianein - a sensational frizzante bianco made of Trebbiano di Spagna, or Trebbianina, a rare variety farmed by a few growers in the Modena area due to its meagre yield.
To complete the collection, Ruzninteina 🌾 2021, a stunning white wine fruit of the marriage of two demijohns, left two years and a half out in the elements. Made with the local Alionza variety directly pressed to the two vessels, it remained untouched until our visit. Bottled by hand in just a hundred units, each label adorned by Camilla's artistic touch.
