Time to introduce the first of two refreshing additions to our portfolio, Vincenzo di Meo's very own project, Controvento.
Originally from Naples, Vincenzo is taking care of five hectares of vineyard in Rocca San Giovanni, Abruzzo. Several plots surrounding the cantina, located on the astonishing Adriatic coast, just six hundred meters from the sea. Here the first plots were purchased by Vincenzo's father in 1978. The vines grow on calcareous soil with marly clay and pebbles on the surface. The proximity to the sea gives the grapes a touch of saltiness that distinguishes the Controvento wines.
To preserve the freshness and purity of the fruits, Vincenzo ferments the grape juice in stainless steel tanks, with no addition of SO2 at any stage. With the '21 harvest, he bottled the fifth Controvento vintage.
